COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Community service is more than just a buzzword; it’s woven into the fabric of who we are. We support nonprofit organizations in the communities where we do business in a myriad of ways including board service, providing in-kind services and general volunteerism.
IDP
The Intern Development Program (IDP) helps recent college graduates learn about the many facets of the architectural profession as a requirement for sitting for the Architectural Registration Exams. We are committed to the IDP process and are active participants in the Intern Friendly Firm program with AIA Charlotte. We employ interns throughout the year and also allow high-school students to shadow our team members.
CHUG
Casual Higher Understanding Group (CHUG) is a bi-weekly, in-house session that is led by our team of resident experts. Our team has an array of experiences and talents, and this is an opportunity for them to share with and help grow others on the team.
LUNCH AND LEARN
In order to continue to advance the profession and maintain our competitiveness, we must remain knowledgeable about and abreast of advances and trends in the industry. We invite industry specialists to join us for lunch and present new developments and products that may help us to better serve our clients.
SUSTAINABLE DESIGN
Sustainable design speaks of time and place, while yearning for timelessness. The art of designing physical objects to comply with the principles of economic, social, and ecological sustainability is rooted in our considerations for good design. Several of our team members have achieved the designation of LEED® Accredited Professional and the firm is currently working on several LEED projects.
FRIDAY LUNCH CRITS
Our most useful tools are an open mind and an eraser. Each week, we gather over lunch (BYOL style) for an all-office critique of a current project. The crits draw on the collective genius of our diverse team and ensure that each project reflects our best skills, experiences and talents. More than one perspective yields richer results and the free flow of ideas during the crits catalyzes passionate discussions about both design and our views on the world.
FIRST FRIDAY On the first Friday afternoon of each month, we gather for a casual forum to discuss ideas and processes that fuel our work. These discussions and brainstorming sessions have helped refine and reinforce the firm structure, mission statement, marketing efforts, and community involvement activities.
