The new Visual and Performing Arts Center (VPAC) at Johnson C. Smith University provides an attractive home to the newly formed VPA major with concentrationsĀ in theatre, film, studio art, graphic art and dance. Ā Supporting efforts to rejuvenate the Historic West End in Charlotte, NC, the center is housed in a renovated 14,000 square foot building that was once the original home of Griffin Brothers Tire Company. The building envelope has a new entrance and extensive use of glass for a contemporary appeal and exposed steel structure and concrete floors reflect the previous character and provide an aesthetic to the building interior.
