A Bit About

Lindsey Schmidt

Lindsey’s favorite aspect about being an Interior Designer is having the capability to transform how people interact and use different spaces. Using the surrounding community and culture of the client allows her to dictate how to design for the user of the space. From space planning to finish selections, it is important to Lindsey to bring the concept of the project full circle.

Lindsey is a 2016 graduate from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor’s of Science in Interior Design. Lindsey grew up outside of Philadelphia before becoming a Hokie. As a student, she studied abroad in Florence for a summer as part of the Interior Design program. After college, Lindsey moved to Charlotte to start her career at Neighboring Concepts and is excited about bringing new and innovative ideas to the team.

“I interned in Charlotte the summer before my senior year at Virginia Tech. I loved the city and had family in the area, so I knew I wanted to end up here. I searched local firms and found Neighboring’s website. The rest was history.

I have been an interior designer for Neighboring Concepts since 2016. The majority of my time here has been spent focusing on affordable housing, along with a few community recreation centers and healthcare projects.

The best part about working for Neighboring Concepts is that every day is different. Depending on the project and phase of design, I could be working anywhere from community outreach and space planning to selecting finishes and reviewing submittals.”
