Neighboring Concepts has provided limited architectural services for several CATS maintenance and operations facilities in Charlotte, including project management and construction administration for both the North Yard Operations Building and the South Boulevard Light Rail Facility.

North Yard Operations Building: A new operations building daily services/ dispatch facility (DSDF) included the lighting, power, and systems design of an operations portion of the building including training room, locker rooms, break area, offices, and parts storage. The service area design consists of an indoor supplies and tool storage area and an outdoor storage yard and light rail vehicle light maintenance and cleaning area. Due to the federal funding, the design time was extended across five years.

South Blvd. Light Rail Facility: Approximately 15,000 square feet of the existing Vehicle Maintenance Facility Upfit was a design renovation of the lighting, power, and special systems to accommodate additional indoor rail car maintenance areas and to modify the existing floor to incorporate a railcar turntable. The scope of work also included segmenting the shop, additional shop equipment, support areas, and extending the Track 6 mezzanine. Due to the federal funding, the design time was extended across five years.
