976,400 SF Bank of America Stadium Temporary Change of Use Occupancy for National Convention; Exteriors Asset Plan for 370 acre(+) urban area
Populous and Neighboring Concepts teamed up as event architects for the 2012 Democratic National Convention located in Charlotte, NC. The companies led the design work for the conversion of the Bank of America Stadium Facility for the five day event, facilitating a temporary change of use occupancy. The architectural and design planning addressed the renovation and rebuilding effort within the stadium as well as the exteriors asset planning in an area covering over a half square mile around the stadium. In fact, Neighboring Concepts’ urban design expertise in Center City Charlotte lent the team agile assistance in highly detailing the exteriors route planning for the credential checkpoint routes. They extensively mapped every asset, from staff coordination centers to refreshment stations, that were to be deployed in the exteriors route planning area of the South End/Gold District and Uptown, thus allowing event contractors, security personnel and other agencies to coordinate and plan together in a fluid manner.
