Amid the pressures of rapid growth, the Pottstown Community Preservation Plan set out to co-develop an actionable, community-led strategy for one of Huntersville’s earliest historically African American neighborhoods. For this close-knit community, the plan serves as a roadmap to safeguard cultural heritage while navigating change, with intention.

Over nine months, Neighboring Concepts led a robust, five-phase engagement and planning process designed to center resident voices while translating community priorities into implementable strategies. Through facilitated workshops, listening sessions, and collaborative co-design activities, the team worked closely with residents, Town staff, and local partners to build a shared understanding of Pottstown’s values, concerns, and aspirations.

Insights gathered through this process informed a comprehensive preservation framework and a set of practical implementation toolkits, equipping the Town with clear strategies to protect cultural heritage, guide future investment, and support the neighborhood as it evolves.

On November 3, 2025, the Town of Huntersville officially adopted the Pottstown Community Preservation Plan.
