The Stowe Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF) will be a new wastewater treatment facility serving western Mecklenburg County and eastern Gaston County, NC. As part of a large collaborative design team, Neighboring Concepts is providing architectural services for the design of office, maintenance, and facility process buildings throughout the over 75 acre site. Along with the plant’s water treatment functions, the facility will offer public educational opportunities and engagement through a visitor center at the facility’s administration building. The administration building is seeking LEED certification and will implement innovative energy solutions and resource management while drawing on local context and history for design inspiration. Stowe WRRF will be a state-of-the-art facility serving to meet the expanding water needs of the Charlotte community.
